After sitting on the bench most of the season, Carlos was pressed into play. His legs felt shaky as he ran onto the field. After the snap, Carlos spotted a receiver downfield. He focused and threw the ball.

Downfield, Jordan knew the pass was for him and grabbed it for a 30 yard gain. The fans, who didn't expect much from a back-up quarter back, leapt to their feet amazed. Carlos, ignoring the fans, took a deep breath and thought about the next play.

With Matt hurt, the game was now in my hands. The only trick was wrestling my focus away from my fears and toward a winning strategy. "Just stay in the moment," I told myself. "You can do it."
