About the Film
One of the most celebrated films of all-time, Citizen Kane is a classic. Co-Writer, director, and star, Orson Welles created a masterpiece that set the tone for filmmaking. In fact, it is still considered by man (including well-known critics) to be the greatest film ever made. Gregg Toland must also be noted for his stellar cinematography that allowed Welles the capacity to produce an outstandingly unique cinematic piece in 1941.
Cinematography & Interpretation: Students will view Citizen Kane as a whole. We will then review a large portion of the film focusing on specific sequences to identify and interpret the use of several cinematic devices.
