Joan Bauer knew from an early age that she wanted to make people laugh. She has done so through the numerous stories and novels she has written. Her authorship took flight after she was injured in a car accident and was unable to make the grueling deadlines for a screenplay that had been set by the studio looking to produce the film. She took her work and wrote her first novel, Squashed. Bauer often creates characters by delving into her past and writing about experiences she has had.
